Dr. Tolin is board certified in psychiatry and has been in practice since 2002. A native of Arkansas, Dr. Tolin earned her B.A. in Biology from Hendrix College in Arkansas in 1994. She earned her M.D. from the University of Arkansas College of Medicine in 1998. Dr. Tolin completed her residency in psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2002.

After completing her residency, Dr. Tolin served in the United States Air Force from 2002-2006 as the Medical Director of the Mental Health Clinic at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada practicing both inpatient and outpatient care as well as serving as a forensic consultant. Following her Air Force service, Dr. Tolin relocated to North Carolina in 2006 and has been in private practice since that time.

Dr. Tolin’s practice is open to adolescents and adults age 16 and older and limited to outpatient treatment only. She is a Fellow with the American Psychiatric Association and NC Psychiatric Association as well as a member of the Clinical TMS Society, Post Partum Support International, and the American Medical Association. Special areas of interest include treatment resistant depression, mental illness and chronic disease, post-traumatic stress, and women’s mental health/reproductive psychiatry. Dr. Tolin offers medication management and individual psychotherapy.

Dr. Tolin also provides Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS Therapy), an FDA-cleared, safe and effective treatment for individuals diagnosed with depression who have not experienced satisfactory improvement from antidepressant medication. TMS Therapy can be used in conjunction with medication or as a stand-alone treatment. Dr. Tolin serves as Medical Director with Greenbrook TMS NeuroHealth Centers for the Cary and Chapel Hill Centers.
